Charles Lowings

After 13 years’ service in SAPS, Charles Lowings was appointed as Retail Risk Manager for the Spar Group. In his 7 years with the group he has encouraged and guided local management in driving and embedding risk management practices and making designated officials accountable for the completion of risk registers and the performance of risk/control tasks. He has also been actively involved in the facilitation of the relevant training in risk methodologies and use of related tools, as well as monitoring levels of compliance and assessing the progress made. |

Errol joined the retail security industry in 1988 as regional loss control manager for Dion Stores and later Group LCM. In 1990 he joined OK Bazaars as shrinkage investigation manager, after which he was appointed loss control executive in 1995 and group risk manager in 1997. He started his own security risk consultancy practice in 1998 and was appointed managing director of BTC Training (Africa) (Pty) Ltd in 2002. |

Bryan McDermott

Bryan Mc Dermott has been involved in providing retail loss prevention solutions in South Africa since 1987. These include working with the majority of South Africa’s major retailers across all spheres. In 2004 to 2007, he spent three years in the Middle East doing the same in that retail market. During this time he worked with major retailers such as Carrefour, Debenhams, Al Shaya Group of Companies’ Panda Supermarkets and Hypermarkets, Geant Hypermarkets, Marks & Spencer’s, Galeries Lafayette. In addition, he has been involved in providing retail solutions in a number of European Countries on a consultative basis.
